On Sunday I was consistently rained and snowed indoors by the hostile weather, so I decided to get cosy and creative rater than waste an afternoon resenting the awfully fickle British climate I live in.
Armed with a nice tin of German watercolours and and a mug of coco I got to work creating some new additions to the Marmalade Bear design family. I tried to include some more masculine bears in the mix.
This was the result:
A Jolly yellow wellington attired bear splashing in puddles (inspiration generously supplied by the view from my window).
A body surfing polar bear careening down the face of a watercolor wave (representing the outdoor activity I would most like to be doing).
A serious grizzly wearing a fetching pair of painfully hipster yet delightfully tortoiseshell glasses. Spectacled bear - get it?! (Probably inspired by the crushing disappointment I felt before Christmas when I was told my vision in one eye was perfect and the other was nearly that, having corrected itself over the years - after a childhood of pirate eye-patches and tear inducing drops - no excuse for artistic looking glasses for me, curses!)
An adventure travel bear - about to explore the famous marmalade lake (reflective of the the wanderlust that because contagious at this particularly grey and dull part of the English year when potential escape and sunshine tease away your focus daily).
Now all that remains is to get busy and turning these chaps into T-shirt designs. In the nouveau medium of ink on cotton.
